St Lawrence Church, Gumfreston (near Tenby)
Following an inspection and condition report in 2019, the wonderful Friends of Friendless Churches undertook to find the money needed to repair this remarkable building and to take it into its care.
We have been thrilled to assist in seeing the building saved and repaired from top to bottom. This has required comprehensive re-roofing, rendering and limewashing the west porch and tower, removing modern paint and re-limewashing internally; reinstatement of leaded light windows, repointing, improved rainwater goods and drainage.
We have also revealed fragments of medieval wall paintings within the church; these are currently undergoing extensive and careful conservation work by specialist wall paintings conservators.
